priming with a brush

Post by deano69 »

Im painting on primer, underneath, with a brush. Its going on very thick and isn't spreading smoothly or very well and after drying a bit i can see that brush strokes have left some areas unprotected and that some areas difficult to get into are unprotected.Im using zinc182 and the pot's supposed to cover 35 sq.ft but i doubt it'll cover 10 at this rate.

Any ideas?I can thin with a cellulose thinner but ive no idea what a cellulose thinner would be...would thinning with white spirit work?

Cheers

You can use a little cellulose thinners to thin zinc primer. I paint with one thin coat of zinc primer, then after a few hours and it has dried, another coat. Thinner coats dry quicker.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
