Post by cadetchris »

going to repair the fist sized hole in the floor or the moggy tomorrow, but unsure of what method to use.

do i hack out all the rusty metal and weld in a new patch

-OR-

do i clear up the edges, coat everything in kurust and weld a patch over it and then from the other side paint and seal?

Personally I would cut out all the rot preferrably using a new panel or at least joddle the edge of your repair panel and weld it in.

Cut back to good clean metal - most importantly - make sure there is NO handy bath of petrol.......... As you now know - sparks start fires. They also ruin paintwork/chrome/glass - so make sure everything is covered up!

thought so.so right back to good metal and replace the bits i have cut out. might take a bit longer than first anticipated, but if it means the car lasts another 40 years, its worth it

After burning down a garage and destroying a car, I am surprised you are allowed to play with grinder and welder ever again :o
