Column Mounted Ignition Switch Wiring Qu.

Post by BigDawgV8 »

Hi All,

Can someone tell me how to wire up a column-mounted ignition switch please?
Which wire goes to which terminal?

Thanks all.

Hello Martin,

that question is impossible to answer without information on the column switch?

My other question is why change from the dash location?

Alec, All very late Minors had the ignition switch on the column. Mine is a 1971 Pick-up.

I was really after which terminal each wire goes to. Does anyone know or have a pic?

Thanks

Blue connector = White and red is the starter solenoid.
Black = Brown & blue live feed from voltage regulator.
White (1) Ignition Warning Light.
White (2) To fuse box for ignition switched circuits (fused & unfused) such as coil, fuel pump

dosent matter which white powers which[frame]Image[/frame]

Josh

just a thought - the white wires look a bit thinner than the black wire the one that goes to the fuse box carries a lot of current so needs to be heavier. I think you need 35A wire rather than 17A but I might be wrong on the exact spec.
