Roll cage

Post by ratrodmog »

More questions from me  :D . Basically I am fitting a 1.4 K series and all associated bits to my saloon (long term project to spread out the cost) with the intention of doing some track stuff and also some touring accross europe  . My girlfriend wants to join me on both but is worried about the safety (as am I) if hit or crashing on the track ect and wants me to fit a cage, which is perfectly reasonable but we all know it isn't that easy. I'm not sure to go for a full cage or just a hoop? There doesn't seem to be anyone producing these off the shelf and I'm worried about building one myself as it will need to conform to certain regs. Long story short, does anyone know who makes them, or has someone got one, or am I stupid for looking? Thanks in advance

I'm sure JLH will sort you out with a pukka cage - but it won't be cheap! John Aley is the name from the past who used to supply roll bars (I have one of theirs on my TR7) - and also Safety Devices.

I was also hoping to do something similar to this idea[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Taken from the Beardmore Bros website. This oviously works to protect the driver and passenger as per below[frame]Image[/frame]

If you're going on a track i don't think the cage is optional.

Yes I do believe a cage is a must on the track. It is also to make the car much safer on the road and especially as it will end up with 127BHP :D . Wouldn't like to think what would happen if someone hit the side at speed :o .

The pics above look more like 'stiffening' for suspension mounts, than a 'roll cage' !

Yes BM it is I believe. Although not particurly effective I have heard. I would be going for a full roll cage to keep us both safe.
