Fuel Pump Noise

I have recently become part of the world that is Morris Minor ownership, and it's great. I picked up a 1969 4 door saloon in Snowberry White yesterday and drove it home through Derbyshire. Is there any treatment to remove the constant smile!!
A bit of advice if somebody would care to help me, amongst a few rattles and stuff I can hear what I assume is the fuel punp operating, I base this on the fact that the 'clicking' noise slows down when idling or slowing down but increases as I accelerate. Is my assumption correct and is the noise normal?
Apologies if this has been discussed before, I have searched but can't find an answer.

Welcome to the Forum! Yes - each 'click' = 10p of petrol burned! The car must be quiet - if you can hear the pump ticking!

Can you post a picture of the pump?
I replaced the electronic pump on my car with an original SU pump because it had a very harsh, loud tick.
The SU pump makes a much more gently "thunk".

Thanks for the advice chaps, it's nice to know that there are people out there who are in the know.
I am answering this from work so no photos I'm afraid, but the pump appears to be a brand new SU. To be honest now that we have driven a couple of hundred miles we quite like the noise, it's sort of heartbeat keeping the old girl going!
Birthday next month so membership of MMOC is on the list.
