Underseal Removal
Hi,proud new owner of a 61 two door (result of a mid life crisis). A previous owner (god bless him or her) has painted the engine bay in underseal,is there any way or anything i can use too remove this with out damaging the paint underneath,has anyone else had this prob or am i saddled with it ! your help would be appreciated !

As you want to leave the paint undamaged, you can soften the underseal by brushing on parrafin, a small area at a time. THen wipe off and use panel wipe to get rid of the rest of the parrafin and underseal.

Where do you buy parrafin? I used to see it at petrol stations, but I don't think they stock it now. B&Q maybe?

Yes B&Q do do it, but like their spirits it might not be exactly the same. I believe paraffin is a controlled chemical now, we were stopped from using it at work years ago.

Try an old fashioned type hardware store. My local one sells parrafin by the 4L.
I don't know why it should be ""controlled"", ridiculous, less flammable than petrol.
