Surely the decision needs to be made at National Committee level to move the AGM around the Country, say for an initial period of three years to judge the attendance figures. So let's start up north then southern half of country. Simple :D

Still, having the AGM at the National would solve the problem

As CJ states, support your local branch but, when all's said and done, Club policy/future strategy is decided at National level not in the Branch

Well that's just an assumption, unless you have an example of this happening? Any member is free to put forward, in advance of the AGM, proposals for discussion. For a number of reasons I don't belong to a branch but on the few occasions that I have contacted a Committee member they have responded quickly and I have not at any time got the impression that they were not interested in what I had to say.

I do actually have an example of this , some 3-4 years ago, I tabled four proposals of which only two were dealt with, due to lack of time. I have not heard back about the other two, which were meant to have been discussed at the following committee meeting.

'I have contacted a Committee member they have responded quickly and I have not at any time got the impression that they were not interested in what I had to say.'

Well I suppose it largely depends on what you contacted them about.

Not too sure that moving the AGM around by itself will increase attendance as the furthest away may be the higher attenders to nearer venues. The National is the only sensible venue as we normally have over 1000 members attending. Its just the timing which needs to be worked out over the weekend.

I think that the feeling that the committe do not care can be based upon the total lack of response to any criticism, especially repeat criticism say of the National, no appologies, or explanation have been forthcoming. So maybe it is fair to assume that their is no interest in what is said on here. Which is a shame because the same arguments and concerns keep coming around year on year.

Do you think that posting the proposed quest for views on this forum and us discussing them openly and freely along with volunteer committee members could be arranged.

Apathy Rules OK. As with any organisation it is the small number of activists who turn up at AGMs. The majority of Minor owners are content to pay their membership, read the magazine and take their cars out on a few rallies if the sun is shining.
The branch officials and regional liaison officers are there to represent the views of their branches as will have been discussed at a previous liaison meeting. If you do not belong to a local branch and do not turn up at the AGM in an individual capacity then your views are not going to be represented. The proceedures for submitting motions have been explained before.
Whether or not you receive a satisfactory response to your questions is another matter.
If the buffet does not improve at the next AGM I shall be taking my own sandwiches.

I'm lucky enough to have a local branch :D, but for those that don't, perhaps there should be a website liason officer or even a permanent member on the committee - voted for annually on the website. Wouldn't that go some way to getting representation for the web users?

As has been voiced several times in the past, for me and many many others this forum is my branch and maybe it should be officially recognised as such

I'd love to volunteer, but maybe I'm not PC enough and being a trader may be an issue. Could job share though :D

Funnily enough I received an e-mail from a committee member completely out of the blue last night with an invite to attend the next branch liaison meeting on Sunday 21st March. As I don't belong to a branch I thought that I had been added to the mailing list by mistake but it appears not - I have been asked if I would like to represent the website members. This seems like a positive step forward so I'm going to go through all the recent threads here to collate the various comments and will be posting up more details shortly. Watch this space :D

Great news Lou . Could this be a sign that eventually the powers that be are begining to listen.
