Schultz is a very good product, if you wish to protect the underside of your car. We use Tetrosyl as this gives a flexible but dry finish.
You cannot paint over this. If you wish to achieve a painted finish with the protection of a barrier layer (soft to absorb stones etc) then simply prime the underside, bare metalled or rubbed down paint, prime, seal ,then apply several thin coats of tetrosyl stonechip, cover this with another few coats of primer then top coat.

Stonechip is much nicer and goes on with a slightly textured finish and is quite resistant to damage. Needs a few PSI from a compressor to get it on nicely.
This is the Midget after about 8 years on the road. I had washed the mud off it before taking the photo.

So long as there is no rust UNDER the stonechip before you start, it will stay like this.

The texture of the Tetrosyl or Gravitex stonechip and shultz is very similar. I'm suprised that the stone chip has lasted Rob as its best to top coat over it due to it being porous.

I'd rather use stone chip paint and as Jonothan says, prime and paint it. Seam seal any seams or welds first.

But i also spray the area with Waxoyl/Dinitrol/whatever brand of underbody wax. Used over paint, wax protection makes it easy to wash the mud off underneath.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
