Boot Lock

Post by sirrom »

I have a '62 4dr sedan and have just noticed that even when the handle is locked you can still open the boot lid. Have tried adjusting the base clip but to no avail. Even when locked the handle appears to be able to be turned past the point it should. Can anybody suggest how to fix or is it a new handle?

Same problem, could be wear on the latch or the hook. Its only 48 years old so a bit of wear is to be expected. If you get a new lock you should be able to knock the pin out, remove the barrel and keep the original barrel and key

But they may be badly worn anyway - often these old locks can be opened with 'any' key - sometimes even with a screwdriver!

I had exactly the same thing, bougth a replacement from esm for £20 and fitted in 5 minutes, very easy.

One point though, the replacement lock i bought required a different securing nut to the old one and wasnt included with the lock. Lucky i had some kicking in my toolbox that fitted.
