Noisy diff drowning out the radio
RE-trace the wiring connections (inc speakers) and make sure everything is tight. Was the radio a new item and or do you know it was working OK before you fitted it.
I'd start by making sure the voltage isn't dropping for some reason with a multimeter.
I have a fancy German radio (Becker) in my modern that is desgned to get a little louder as speed increases but it needs a connection to a wire that tells it the speed I think.
Maybe yours has something similar but wired wrong?
The radio isn't getting power at all now (red LED behind face not lighting up), there's live going in and it's a good earth. Think the radio might be fried now .

The driver or the wireless?
He's probably listening to Radio 1 in which case it will be his Minor's inbuilt protection system kicking in which prevents cr*p music being played
Actually it was my 'The Very Best of Heartbeat CD' - which is now stuck in the radio!

Is it a modern radio? Some have internal fuses.... It is possible that your charging system may be working overtime and putting too much power through which has blown the fuse. Check your battery voltage with engine running a fast idle......
