brilliant video! Featuring two of my favourite all time handling cars the Morris Minor and Porsche 944 :D Both Tiff favourites as well.

Tiff can really drive, the current three presenters don't have a clue how to drive a car fast, that is why they had to bring him back in secret for some of the time in the recent top gear in secret as one of the Stigs.

That Minor is still on the road too! The same could probably not be said for the other vehicles tested.

Date of First Registration 01 08 1963
Year of Manufacture 1963
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1098CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN

I think the only other car on that video still on the road would be the Porsche 944 turbo. Galvanised body, the best rust protection I've ever seen on a car and high quality materials and components mean a lot of 944's sold in the UK are still on the road.

Interesting Video. Makes me feel a little better about spinning my Minor. My new one should be here in a week or two though :)

Interesting, but a bit unfair to the Minor.
It would be very interesting to see how the cars compared if they were all using 145 tyres :) .

i dont know,it was just meant to show the characteristics of oversteer and how technology has changed,to me it put the message accross that the minor is a very safe car handling wise and easy to control even at the limit, where newer cars are harder to control at the limit. :D

Nothing wrong with crossplies, I have seen 1.4 g cornering in my Minor with the data logger, OK the crossplies are wide slick tyres but they are still crossplies :D

with the "advanced" handling of a minor you can pretty much throw them into any corner you want without too much worry
my side-valve has crossplys and corners nicely (slowly but).
However you really notice the difference with some "wide" radials (i have a set of 13x5.5 inch wheels with 175/70 tyres on them) when it comes to cruising - The crossplys tend to try follow the heavy truck "ruts" in the road.

Still a damp roundabout and a wee bit of throttle control is great fun even at 15mph

Yes, the Morris Minor is a great handling car, just a slow good handling car. Here is the view of an expert racing driver http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooBJ2Z2sZvo.

That Minor was last on the road in 2006. Surely someone must have that one stored away somewhere, it looked in excellent condition in the video.

I recognise the minor in the first video i think it is pictured in one of Ray Newells books 'Original Morris Minor'...I don't have the book here to check but I think it's the same one.

I worked in a garage about 3 months ago, and that car had been at the garage for about 8 months at the time, it was having it's clutch replaced, and it's currently owned by a Mr. Ragoo.

8 months to do a clutch!
Seems a bit excessive :o .
