V8 Pick-up Progress Up-date

Post by BigDawgV8 »

Hi,
My V8 Pick-up project has been on-going for several years but at last it looks like it is coming together.

For the first time in months it is sitting on it's wheels so yesterday I took the opportunity to take a pic.

I hope you like! :D

Cheers

Hi and thanks for the comments!

The body is stock except for the bulk-head mods (for the V8).
The chassis is home-built and similar to original with mods to accept the new suspension.
Front - modified kit-car style adjustable wish-bones with Ford up-rights and Ford steering rack/column
Rear - Toyota Celica axle with 5-link set-up. Avo coil-overs all round.

Rover V8 3.9litre with Edelbrock carb and manifold. Home-built exhaust with 2 small silencers. Cooling by Sierra Cosworth rad with twin fans.
Borg Warner 65 auto 'box and custom prop.[frame]Image[/frame]

Hmmm Just realised thats an old pic, but you get the idea!
There is a lot more in there now!

Some electrical stuff, cables and body panels to finish and the truck should be good to go.

Cheers

Martin was over 6 foot tall last time we met...
Mind you - last time I saw this one, it was rather standard ;-)

Yep, I'm.....err........6' 5''

The first time I drove it was to the National at Donington. 3 hours each way and I genuinely found it really comfortable.
With the V8 in there I have kept the pedals and wheel in virtually the same positions as before so we will see.
The seats will be the same as before BTW.

Cheers

Martin

ps. Mogmad57 - have you got any pics of your old V8 truck?
Was it bright red with steam roller rear tyres and a Chevy up front?

Sorry mate, no pic's of the pick up it was a standard body, unfinished job in primer, built by an engineer and I have regretted selling it ever since :( . When I saw your's I felt pig sick that I let it go. I should have reworked the gearbox tunnel/pedals etc , lost some weight and kept it. Now I've got a turbo diesel mog van :o Image

Hi Russ,
Sadly not! Still too much work to do. Plus I have a new project too.......

With the weather as it is at the moment I'm not even sure the yellow beastie will be there!!!!! :(

But on the plus side I have re-joined the LCV Reg.
