Hi

welcome to the club..

as for panels, if you read this post it gives you a list of suppliers by no means exhaustive but a good start..

http://mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27472

be aware of getting "cheap" panels they could well be cheap for a reason and need lots of fettling ( banging with a big hammer \ angle grinder ) to get them to fit properly.

It might just be me but I tend to avoid any panels 'Made in Sri Lanka' irrespective of who sells them

Would normally agree Bill but the C.Ware boot lid repair is the best on the market. For all other panels we find Hadrian or Heritage offer good quality steel panels.

I know one company who labels all their panels regardless of country of origin - Made in England :o
Probably not the company you're all thinking of either....
cheers

That is interesting that C ware panels are for once better than the Hadrian ones. On the convertible project, I'm still not happy with the bootlid repair I did, probably because of the shape of the repair panel. Next boot lid I do I will make my own bootlid repair section.

It may be the case that with this panel the modern pressings are not right and a handmade repair section will fit better.

Re panels John the only one better is the boot repair. We had a meeting with the other pattern panel company just before christmas, when I raised my concerns over the front wings, floor edge panels and the boot lid repair. they listened , and I hope took onboard my suggestions, only time will tell if improvements are made.
If one is capable of producing bespoke repair panels then yes they will certainly be a more accurate fit. :D

Yes, I can do this at college night course I'm on. I have access to all the kit and expertise in the shape of our intructor Brian. I guess the problem with the LMC hadrian boot lid repair panel is that it is too flat, i.e not enough shape in the panel? Needed quite a bit of lead loading and filler to get a decent curve to the panel. Next one I will make myself.

Good thing that you are raising concerns about panel quality. What is the problem with the floor edge panels, flat overlap bit too wide? (I trim them).

To be honest though, the Minors I've worked on were bodged about so much in the past that even the sub par hadrian floor edge panels were far better than the previous repairs!

The floor edge panels... the main problem is the sharpness of the folds, when compaired to the original, plus the shaping at the rer of the back floor panel. I must admit that they seem keen to improve as much is possible. I have arranged to sort some other panels which we feel could be improoved, the boot repair being one and the half floors which we have offered to build a datum point jig, to make sure of correct alignment.
