My 1956 Morris Minor 1000 Saloon - Update 07/11

Post by mr2daniel »

Hello ,I am Daniel I`m from Holland and I am here to let you see my restoration project .

September 2007 I bought a Morris Minor 1000 Saloon from August 1956,
LHD built in Amsfoort Holland (Molenaar)

At first look is was very nice, apart from being 51 years old ! ;)
He was more than 10 years in a garage, an old lady sold him to a neighbour because she was leaving the country .

Some more updating ,

The state of the Morris

- not starting

Image

Check the pump and cleaned it

Image

Checked and cleaned the dynamo

Image

Emergency fuel hose from pump to the carburetor

Image

Check and cleaned the carburetor

After all this I could start him easy.
I wanted to make sure that the engine was ok and also the gear box.
I drove it for a few meters ,and it was nice apart that I didn’t had any brakes.

cheers
Dan

Its nice to see the pics. What is all the white stuff inside, has the floor been repaired with GRP?
Good luck with the project.

The old owner had glued the old carpet to the floor, not such a good idea! :(
I spent a few hours trying to take it all off.The white stuff is the underside of the carpet.

Wow, you've done a lot of work! That's a beautiful Moggie you've got. I can tell you'll take good care of 'im. You and your Minor have all our best wishes from America. :D

Keep adding the photos periodically -- they're helpful to a newbie like me!
