cam shaft bearings

going to rebuild a spare engine and decided a whole set of bearings is a good idea.

so, having read the manual and unable to find the tool they use, i am at a loss of how to replace them.

any ideas?

You sure they need replacing - I was advised by a well known expert not to bother - Roy will no doubt explain later

Which engine is it? The 948 only had a front camshaft bearing, the others were directly in the block. The 1098 had 3 'proper' bearings. Unless they are visibly very worn, you will usually be ok.

Probably best to take to an engine builder - it's not a big job, but does need specialist tools to do it properly.

It will be an expensive business! Unless the engine has been ground to a complete seized-up halt through lack of oil flow - the cam bearings will be fine. They are 'never' normally renewed at rebuilds.
