Looking for APD668H...
Hi all, I just joined this forum today to ask if anybody knows the whereabouts of my parents old woody. To the best of my memory, the registration was APD668H. I typed that reg into the DVLA vehicle finder and I got the following details.
Date of Liability 01 04 1994
Date of First Registration 01 10 1969
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1098CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour GREEN
I can see that the car is not taxed or SORN so I assume it has been scrapped. However, somebody told me that this might not be the case. If anybody could shed some light on this or even knows something about the car that would be great.
When the car was sold it had some fungus growing in the boot, the carb didn't work and the headgasket had gone. I think it would have been an easy restoration for somebody if it wasn't scrapped but I was only a kid when it was sold and I didn't know anything about cars then.

Re: Looking for APD668H...
SORN came in about 1997, so if it was taken off the road in 1994 the owner probably wouldn't have bothered notifying DVLA as there was no legal requirement to do so. DVLA would have then tagged it as unlicensed. It's possible that it got put into a garage to await repair and is still there today, as seems to happen frequently with Minors. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your reply dryad. That is good news.
I'll wait and see if anybody else comes forward with some info. I suppose my ultimate ambition here would be to buy the car and undertake any restoration work needed but it would be nice to know that the car is still about somewhere - even if it is only a chassis now.

sadly I'd expect the worst, but like Dryad says it could be anywhere if still around.
Mine was last taxed in 1986 and is sat on my drive.... so you never know there is hope!

Re: Looking for APD668H...
I have had a look through an old filing cabinet and found the name and address of the person who bought the car. I have also found a very old (and well thumbed) original workshop manual as well as a haynes manual and parts catalogue.
Would it be OK for me to give the name of the buyer, in the hope that somebody on here knows him?

No, perhaps not - though of course I wouldn't have published an address.WPR678B wrote:That would probably not be a very good idea!OldGreenMorris wrote:Would it be OK for me to give the name of the buyer, in the hope that somebody on here knows him?
I'll keep checking back and see if anything comes up.

Don't see any problem just putting up the name! Goodness - the telephone directory is full of names - and addresses!

I agree. Also, there are probably dozens, if not hundreds, of people with the same names in the UK. Unless your name is Ebeneezer Gruntfuttock.bmcecosse wrote:Don't see any problem just putting up the name! Goodness - the telephone directory is full of names - and addresses!
