ignition switch.
help. have just conected a fully charged battery to car, went to start it nothing? its a lucas type switch. no lights ,horn, indicator, changed fuses, cleaned, earths, etc. all wiring seems ok. could it be the switch?

Re: ignition switch.
Head / side lights at the very least wil be working without ignition so it seems that the battery may not be connected. Have you got a pull start - if so you can press the button on the solenoid to see if the engine turns over....

Re: ignition switch.
found the problem, the guy i bought it off had fitted a fused link in the power lead which was loose, so hopfully it will start tomorrow

Re: ignition switch.
That is VERY dangerous! If it blows when engine is running then the voltage will go sky high - bursting bulbs/ruining wireless/ruining alternator if you have one - dynamo may survive though! You should NOT have a fused link in the main supply. Get rid of it!

Re: ignition switch.
thanks, i was going to replace the cable and ditch the link
Re: ignition switch.
changed cable, turned the key, she started first time
