Not really! Although - if you do some welding - it will inevitably catch fire - and drip off in burning globs right down your neck...

Just as well that ive found a welding friendly mate to do that for me then.i'll warn him and he can wear a turtleneck.....

Used Google to search for answers and so far using deisel, paint stripper or large amounts of WD40 has been suggested.Paint stripper sounds a bit flamable to me-what do you think to the diesel idea?No idea why or how it would work but...

No it's a wire brush job I'm afraid. Both horrible jobs - scraping the stuff off and applying it. I've had to have it cut out of my hair nasty goo, but it does the job! Don't be tempted by the heatgun, can be very dangerous, and don't forget to wear your goggles to protect your eyes.

Oh i dont intend on applying it again.It'll be a couple of coats of chassis black and waxoyl for me.Was using a blow torch but i suppose that's gonna be as potentially dangerous as heat gun.Did the job good though, although it took me two hours just to clean off the drivers side sill area.Chuffed to find no holes and solid horizontal metal although i cant get the kick plate off as the nuts and bolts are rusted tight so may not be so lovely inside.Hope to find out tomorrow how good or bad when i try to hack saw the blighters off.

An electric heat gun is a great help - I assumed that's what you were using. Best not to approach with flames!!

go grab a chilly bin of dry ice
dry ice in a bag + leather gloves. Hold against the floor for about 20-30 seconds then attack that spot with a scraper

i think you will find it much much easier

Hmmm - dry ice - easy to get hold of, just pop down to the Spar.......

You can brush the underseal with parrafin, leave it for an hour and it will scrape off more easily. Really though, heat- scrape (using an electric heat gun) is not too laborious, I can do a wheel arch/innerwing section in about 20 mins. Just put the earphones on, fire up the iPOD and enjoy!

I was given something called a Multitool by Fein for Christmas. Although I haven't tried it yet, the DVD that comes with it shows it removing underseal effortlessly. This device looks like an angle grinder, but the blade only swings back & forth through about 5 degrees of arc at a zillion times a minute. Anyone know this tool, and if it works like it says on the tin?
