Soundproofing advice

At the risk of repeating an earlier topic, does anyone have any practical advice or photos of how to apply the sounddeadening material to the inside (obviously ) of the bonnet ? How do you cut it or measure the material ? One layer or two ?????

At some stage too I have to do it to the inside too, but at the moment its just the bonnet.

I Know RogerRust did the inside of his MG, looked like a spaceship. Will be able to give you some good advice I'm sure, think there will be a thread about it somewhere too.

I tried some rubber self adhesive soundproofing behind the instrument panel but I had to cut so many awkward shapes to fit in the corners and it eventully fell out. It might have been easier if I had stripped the interior first.

Found these pics of a nearly completed fitting out ,of the inside of the car. Surfaces must be dust and grease free. The sound mat is 54" x 1.2 meters (don't ask) and its self adhesive. This can be doubled up on the bulkhead if required.
We fit this to all surfaces inc the roof, doors alloy trav panels etc and the difference in noise reduction is huge. We also fit a 'space layer' this is a foam material sandwiched between two thick rubber type sheets, works a treat

Where can we get the soundmat from. It looks much easier to fit than the usual type being self adhesive. The other type requires those studs which are not easy to fit lying upside down under the dashboard

Darn it, I wish we weren't 6k miles or so apart, parts wouldn't be so costly and hard to find for the both of us!
