No problem but I thought that it should be in writing somewhere, just in case someone drops a car on top of them whilst not following instructions. I have asked for it to be moved to a sticky

It's already in the terms and conditions. No need for a sticky.

Nobody ever reads T&C's in this world. I quite often get told at work "What, you expected us to read all that?" "Who reads those things?" etc etc etc :o

Take out a mortgage or life assurance without reading them at you peril these days :D You never know what they will put in the small print.

I can see that Mike is concerned about someone being sued, but I don't think his disclaimer helps the rest of us.

When I tried just now to find the site's terms, I couldn't, but I assume that they are phrased in terms of users of the site indemnifying the Club and contributors to the message board against claims. Mike's statement, as written, applies only to himself, i.e. he has made every effort to check the accuracy of what he has written, and he doesn't accept liability etc. As such, I think it is potentially positively harmful to other contributors, who the unwitting user (and God knows, we've got a fair sprinkling of them) may assume have also applied Mike's "every effort to check.. accuracy".

I'd expect, at best "reasonable endeavour", but I'd sooner see the sort of indemnity that covers everything except wilfulness. Mike could always incorporate his disclaimer into his sig, if he thought it might give him further protection.

Think I agree with you Mike. Would it not be possible to add this at the top or bottom of the messageboard page. I doubt that many regular members access the messageboard via the terms and conditions anyway, my puta is set up to open on the login in page, and there i only need to click on login. I presume then that T and C's may be changed or added too and most of us would be non the wiser, unless our attention was drawn to it. :D

If the ts & cs change, you will be made aware of it. You will have to accept them before you can access the Board. You will have to accept the terms and conditions every so often anyway.

I think that I have opened the proverbial can of worms. I always access the message board via the Series MM website so I don't go through terms and conditons although I have read them in the past.
I always try to stress the safety angle when posting advise but there are always owners who should not be le loose with a tyre pressure gauge without supervision
I have the disclaimer written into the Series MM booklet, the contents of which I have more control over.
If anyone can improve on the wording then let me know.

As was said earlier, I have more control over the MM website which has fewer contributors with possibly a greater appreciation of the differences between a Series MM and M1000. If someone has a problem with an MM I usually know where to go or who to ask for the answer and I can keep an eye on any safety issues.

I think with the updated site the timer is 20 days...
Once you accept the T&C's they don't re-appear next time you go to the forum, unless they change or the timer expires.
Generally they don't change!
