New Carby

Post by David53 »

A little while ago on Ebay I spotted a rebuilt H1 Carby to suit my 53 Series II - a rare carby to find and this one had been stripped and fully rebuilt with all new parts by a professional carb company here. Couldn't resist it - just looked so good :D

I decided to buy it as my original has always been temperamental and I have found it hard to get the mixture just right. Well, fitted it last weekend and it had transformed the car :D. She now ticks over lovely and smoothly and acceleration is smooth and even. I am sure she is using a lot less petrol too :-)

Plus i now have a reliable spare to carry with me just in case of an emergency far from home :-)

Yes it looks amazing :D When it arrived I very excitedly showed my wife but she couldn't quite see the attraction....

The old carby was the original, 57 years old and pretty worn. Also, joy of joys this one has a lifting pin! So useful to check the mixture.

Women (most) don't appreciate things like that! My wife is starting to understand - well she sounds more convincing than she did 35 years ago!
