Just pulled the engine out thinking I may have a crank thrust issue as I could feel the vibration through my foot ! The clutch however has a rusty patch that hasn't cleaned up ( Apparently the car had stood for 4 1/2 years ) The clutch thrust does not turn ( All other I have worked with do ! ) is this normal ? I'm going to drop the sump off and have a look at the bearings as a matter of course ..... anyone have have any other thoughts / what to look for that may be causing this ?
Thanks
Rich

Re: Clutch vibration
Clutch thrust is carbon bush - so it doesn't turn - it just slips against the face of the pressure assembly - and is the reason you must NOT sit with foot on clutch in a Minor. Vibration will NOT be crank thrusts! Is it all smooth when running - foot not on clutch ? If vibration ONLY when foot on clutch - usual cause is damage to the little levers and springs that support the release pad. If the carbon thrust is worn down - fit a new one !

Re: Clutch vibration
Thanks for that. The levers do not appear to have any damage but I have not closely examined them. I was going to replace the clutch anyway. If there is excessive wear on the thrusts would you not feel that ?

Re: Clutch vibration
Not as vibration - there may be some slight extra movement in the crankshaft - that's all. Very unlikely though!

Thanks again
