Chrome windscreen trim

Hi all tried to remove the chrome windscreen trim on an early 1000 model today and the chrome all twisted while removing any ideas how to rmeove it without twisting it? hope I can save the already removed half!

Its only really meant to be removed when the screen rubber is off the window glass. And for refitting its fitted to the new rubber before the whole thing is replaced in the windscreen opening.

Yes Frank, I second that from Taupe. The steel inserts are fitted differently to the "modern" plastic ones....
