Hello From NZ

Post by oilypaws »

Hi,

Just joined the forum. I've started work on a 1963 4 door which needs a little TLC. This looks like a good place to find advice!

Are there many members from New Zealand? And if so, do you know any good local sources for parts (new and used)? I've found that you can buy most of the car brand new from the UK, but is there anyone selling the bits over here and how do the prices compare?

The bigee is the front chasis subframe rails which I am afraid might need to be replaced... I should probably post info about my little project to the Restoration page.

Anyway, Hi!

Isn't the internet wonderful? It sure makes the world a smaller place. Where abouts in NZ are you? It will help those with some local knowledge to steer you in the right directions. In the mean time I assume you are keeping an eye on TradeMe.

G'day mate, welcome to the forum. I get most of my parts from the UK, it turns out to be cheaper most of the time than buying them from Australian suppliers (not that there are many). You might find the same thing in NZ. Having said that, I always try to support the local bloke, even if he is 2000km away.
Whereabouts in NZ are you? I'm heading over the ditch at Easter for Warbirds Over Wanaka.

Basis rubber is pretty good, there is a guy in Wellington who has parts, there is a wrecker in Cambridge who has heaps of moggie parts, but I too use ESM in England, the prices are OK and the delivery times are pretty quick.

Thanks for the useful links everyone! It's very helpful. I am in the central pert of the North Island. I'm thinking of joining a club - the Auckland club seems most active. Is there an active club in Rotorua / Hamilton / Bay Of Plenty areas?
