No more Rock Salt!!!!
Our local Council has just said that there's no problem with gritting the roads. "We got plenty" We've more salt than you'll find in a McDonallds Happy Meal.

Re: No more Rock Salt!!!!
Blaenau Gwent have at last got around to spreading theirs about. Biggest problem is parked cars obstructing the roads, not all of which are side roads
. They haven't collected the bins for two weeks, as the side roads are blocked with snow and cars
.
Some of these car owners really are primative. There was one in my street yesterday, trying to move the car. All I could hear, for about ten minutes, was a car being bounced off the rev limiter
until whoever it was either gave up...or the engine gave up. There's a foot of snow outside my garage door (And I'm a good way off the main road) so no point in opening it. Walked into the shop yesterday (As I didn't know how things would be this morning) ....9 miles....on the higher levels the road was buried under 4 foot drifts. Haven't seen Llangynidr Mountain like that in long while.

Re: No more Rock Salt!!!!
Our side road is of a main road (through route with 4 side roads and a pass - through crossroads) on a hill and was important enough to have lots of speed bumps. As this is one of the the poor areas of town they cut the grass borders less often & don't pick up the grass, prune the bushes by beheading them at ground level (I guess that saves pruning effort!) and don't grit the main road.
Yesterday I couldn't get up the hill first time as it was shiny ice for it's entire length, and didn't want to take a bigger run at it due to speedbumps. 3/4 of the way up there was a car abandoned sideways across the road... I presume they had tried to go into one of the side roads at the top and the car just carried on down the hill until stopping against parked cars
I was tempted to photograph that and send it to the council, as they've recently written and asked people to park on the road and not up in front of the houses (after forgetting who did and didn't have 'permission' for off parking road.)
I can live with slippy roads - ice is treacherous but I really enjoy snow!
What I really want is to be fixing my Minors regardless of the weather, but sadly I'm still at least a month away due to my list of other chores
At the current rate my list is getting longer not shorter so it's going to take big efforts, but i'm determined to get back to the Minors... I watched the Minor Mata film trailer from another thread yesterday, and then watched it a few more times just to hear the Minor exhaust note!!

What film trailer is that, Ray? Typing in Minor Mata in various forms doesn't search it out!
