Dvla form V888 I need help please.

I want to find more information about my uncles old Maroon Morris Traveller registration UWW 467F I have put posts on here before about it but nobody has any info only this on the dvla website

I want to try and find who owns it and if possible buy it from them, someone on here suggested getting form V888 which I have done but has anyone any experience of what to put on the form to convince the dvla to give you the info you want.
Please help it would mean so much to me just to see it again to be honest, cheers Simon.

I found that they won't give you any info unless your on the V5, or own the vehicle. I did the same and sent in a V888. I had no joy!

It's something to do with the data protection act. Sadly if you were on the V5 and contacted previous owners to tell them you are restoring their old car. If you didn't declare this as your intention on the V888 and they complained it could land you in trouble.

Have you rang DVLA to ask advice... not sure if it would get you anywhere, but some of the employees are very helpful.

If you are not the registered owner of the vehicle in question the DVLA will only provide information if you can show 'reasonable cause' and "trying to find out where the car is now" does not fall into that category. As Dean has pointed out, the DVLA is governed by Data Protection legislation so will not release any information unless satisfied that there is a valid reason to do so, and you would be breaching the legislation yourself if you provided them with incorrect information in order to obtain details.

As the car does not appear to have been on the road for over 15 years it's possible that it has been scrapped but have you thought about placing an ad in Minor Matters asking if anyone can provide any information about it's whereabouts? Might be worth a go as it may have been owned by a club member at some time and even if you don't find the car someone might be able to provide some details about its history. Use the form in the back of the magazine and post the details in the 'miscellaneous' section.

Thanks alot I think I'll take your advice and try advert in minor matters and maybe a few other mags, but if anyone else has any other ideas I'd really appreciate it ta.

I reckon with 15 years gone by since it was last heard of - it's long gone now!
