What DID Santa bring you?

Post by MColes »

Merry Christmas to all so what did Santa bring you?

To name a few things I had

1. A Stormforce Car cover (had a few months now since I bought new car ).
2. Haynes build your own engine kit (handy to practice for any engine rebuilds ).
3. A tent - ready for the next national and other car shows :D.
4. Emergency car kit - in a handy bag to add extra tools and spares I may need on the go - will keep my boot tidy.
5. Full carpet set for the car - I believe Lou already knew about that present as Chris had to ask her which set to get.
6. Morris minor wall plaques.

And a lot more including clothes, cds, dvds etc.

Too much to list and I'm waisting valuable drinking time

My wife and I bought each other, as a joint present, a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38 Camera, with paraphenalia.

My daughter bought me a twelve year old Japanese Maple Bonsai tree.

Couldn't agree more...... and well said btw..
Most of you know that I've suffered with my lungs for a few years now and been through some rough times .. but in October this year I was diagnosed with Lung cancer and after having the latest p.e.t. scan it revealed that the cancer was also in my liver and bowel..
Can't praise the medical team enough and undergone some horendous test etc; they have managed to keep me here for this Christmas, and hopefully for a few more if the chemo works... just glad I had my Christmas dinner at home with my lovely family.
Strange but you never think this will happen to you but certainly makes you think..

Wow Mal - that's one powerful post! - very best wishes for things to go as well as they can for you in 2010.

I got 2 pair gloves , the reprint of Ray Newells MM book, some clothes (my wife and daughter are desparate for me to look at bit tidier in 2010) plus of course my replacement Rover seats (not sure when they'll arrive though - bein couriered over from Margate).

Best wishes to everyone else too for 2010.

Thanks for your wishes, Carlos and Mike, I didn't post that to upset or offend anyone especially at this time of year, it was really in response to 'aupickups' post that I found very moving....
I'll get though this ok and have every intention of giving it my best shot, but, at the end of the day what will be will be...
I've had one of the best Christmas's ever but didn't want any presents, but I did get a couple, funny thing is, I gave all the Hosptal staff loads of stuff and donations etc; that made me feel better than receiving stuff.
Anyway, hope I've not offended anyone else..

regards Mal

I think that too much emphasis is placed on material possessions at times, particularly at Christmas, and we tend not to appreciate the basics such as good health and a roof over our heads.

All the best for the New Year Mal, and to everyone else who visits the board.

Carwise, my father bought me some Sun visors for my MG Midget (They were not fitted as standard). I've "Managed" for 25+ years without them but I'm sure they'll be useful. Apart from that, I had a secondhand book; Classic & Sportscars, Cars of the 1930s. It's out of print now and the book is in first rate order :D . There were other bits and pieces (Some Fred Dibnah stuff) but as much as anything, a bit of P&Q was welcome. Oh yes, I had "Porridge - The Movie" on DVD. What a classic; I sometimes wonder, who needs a TV Licence when there are DVDs like that to watch. Watched Great Escape on video....yes I'm a creature of habit.

On the downside, my mother has had "The flu" over Christmas and I'm hoping she will be over it in time for New Year. Its back to work for me today. Although the shop is closed, there are web orders to look at and there was stock in last week, that I have to put away before we reopen on Tuesday.

Our family has had it's share of suffering as a result of cancer in the last few years. It's a terrible thing for all concerned.

To Mal, aupickup & anyone else affected-my sincere best wishes to you all.

Thanks Neil & Louise for your wishes :D
Had a nice Christmas surprise yesterday, a couple of local Moggy owners popped in to see me and then my mate and his wife popped along for a couple of hours followed by thier son who bought my Moggy off me, pleased to see he's looking after it well and has put some wonderful high back front seats in... lovely and comfy, but I always found the original ones ok..
Alas, back to reality today.. spent six hours at Hospital getting more chemo... don't mind really as long as it works
