Well still not sure what to do. Way to busy at work to spend a load of time working on this but itching to have a play with the plasma cutter and tig welder thad dad gave me.(Pace-maker means not allowed to use anymore!!)

Just to see, I took it to a local vehicle restorer who, after saying mmm its a lot of work, a lot of work came up with a budget of £25-35000. He said £45 per hour well thats still a lot of hours.

Plan at the moment is to stick in a good engine and box just purchased, sort the brakes and decide what to do. Charles ware have given a budget figure of £7000(ish) to sort body and brakes and paint and I am quite tempted but will wait until the new year as I have to sign contracts on the next job.

Took engine out this morning and still find it a joy working on simple cars. Also the Oxy acetylene makes removing rusty things so easy.

Well collected replacement engine today. Looks quite clean but a few problems with stripped threads on bits. (Not sure how to sort the stripped threads on 2/3 tension cable retainig bolts to the gearbox any ideas expect some coil stuff may be available -help)

Most bits now swapped over so will fit next week. Have ordered a load of gaskets and stuff, I think it is fantastic that so many parts are available off the shelfImage

Propshaft just slipped off nicely as I pulled engine forward. Hope it goes back as easy.

I had a bit of time today so I put the engine in. (Did not have the correct paint but its green and I am colour blind anyway.)

Had a quick try to start but no spark. Will have to sort later as I need the workshop this week to make furniture.

Bit worried, when I changed the gearbox oil this spring was in there as well as water.

Anyway I have decided to get the pickup running, do the brakes and then take to UK to get bodywork and chassis sorted by professionals.

Well its all back together and engine runs well.

Brakes were a problem, they had been all replaced but had re-used the old contaminated shoes and somehow had the adjusters wrong so they did not adjust and were binding all the time.

Just need to get someone to sort the rusty bits, having read about Kates troubles, I am looking else-Ware for the repairs.

I am currently discussing details with a couple of companies to strip and rebuild so that it will be a daily runner,
Prices have ranged from £6 -£18K for the work.

I hope to get things sorted soon and will post all pics as and when.

I need to go and collect what I can salvage from the other one that came with it. It has stood under a tree for 15 years and I dont think much can be saved. It has a plate on the passengers door and mine does not.

Well thats odd as I registered about 10 days ago but heard nothing back.

Guess I will have to try again.

Also looks like Rich is going to do most of the hard work for me, so should get a pile of pics to post. :D

Looks good, you are very lucky to have the original rear. My pick up is more like a chassis cab at the moment!
Thanks

I am quite pleased with it, I have spent a bit of time looking over it and have to say that the bodywork is very good for an old vehicle. I am looking forward to seeing it all stripped.

Just an update.
My main wish is to end up with a vehicle that my wife and daughter can safely use that will not fall apart within a few years like some of the DIY restorations that I have seen. So even though I have done a lot of DIY work to Minors, this time I have given it to a professional to sort out.
So Rich we are counting on you!!

After a load of trouble sorting temporary importation to UK from Channel Islands Rich finally collected the beast.

(Not implying that any of the restorations featured on this section will fall apart in a few years, just saw a lot of bodges in my search)
