The brake pedal return spring decided to disintegrate this afternoon. I can see where it fits on a lug inside the chassis leg but where does the other end go? is there a hole on the pedal that I'm missing?
Sorted - the 'bolt' is now a 'clevis pin' with 2 holes until that is the nesw pin arrives. While I was struggeling to fit the replacement spring I noticed that the yoke from the pedal to the pushrod is bent at about 30 degrees from straight. What would cause that. Everything seems free enough and nothing is siesed to the shaft
My pedal yoke was like that and I just left it but was later advised to replace it as the yoke should be straight and if it is bent it could fracture at the bend. I don't think it is an expensive part but a bit fiddly to change
I'll explain in great detail Jeff now that I've become an 'expert' I would say fiddely is a gross misunderstatement PIA is a more appropriate description.
Yes I agree not too easy to get at but the weather is rubbish so you might as well do it so you can enjoy your minor when the weather improves. It's just one of those nagging problems that when you know about it and the consequences of not fixing it that bugs you? Or at least it was with me.
