sizes of gap for spark plugs for morris marina engine

Hi can anyone tell me what the sizes for morris marina 1275 engine are please on spark plugs and points I have a morris minor but it has a marina engine.

Plugs .025", points .015" More or less standard for A series engines, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct Mike - 1275 is same as 1098 / 948

No reason why! Only downside - if ignition system is 'marginal' it may not fire up well from cold.

Good info - I always set mine to .028 as an old boy at work told me years ago when I was doing my apprenticeship - I couldn't remember the reasoning behind it though....

Of course, if you are sensible and fit an electronic dizzy, then it will happily spark .030" or more, allowing you to run a weaker mixture more reliably, without the constant adjustment of cakky modern contact breakers

No idea - try it! My Lumenition on the TR7 starts and runs happily on 40 thou - Champion plugs though! And it is a ballast system - so full coil volts on starting.

Hello all,

the con is that you need to ensure that the leads\cap\rotor arm etc are kept clean and dry as a wider gap means a higher voltage for the system. It shouldn't be a problem given good maintenance.
