Seatbelts fixing positions for an early Minor 1000 4dr

I'm guessing the bottom one is in line with the centre of the B post.

Where does the top one go? I'm reluctant to just guess the correct height for the shoulder mount.
Can anyone give me a position? eg. a height measured from the floor.

Ray you could always give Bull Motif a call as they supply the belt kits, I would think they are the same as the Traveller and possibly the commercials. I can measure a Traveller tonight if you still need the measurement.

Does the car have trafficators, or flashers??

If it's got flashers, then the measurement will be 40" from the floor, or 37" from the top of the sill.

Basically, the top fixing on Phyllis, is fitted as far up as it would go (not by me, I hasten to add... :lol: )

Have you taken the trim off from the top of the B-post? That might give you some indication. Hope this helps!! :D

It had trafficators as it is an early Minor 1000, so removing the trim only revealed a long slotted hole....
I'll look at 40" from the floor as a guide - Many thanks :-)

I already have some belts from Dan (Salty Monk)
The car will be sold soon hopefully, but I didn't want the next owner to have to stress about it (it is already in my garage and I have the welder out anyway).

The car had a reasonably tidy complete restoration but they used 2 door panels so the hole in the inner step (where the nut should be) is in the wrong place :roll:
They also used sill panels with no drain holes - which is why the welder is out!! There'll be another post in the tips section soon. ;-)

Does anyone recon it really needs the fine threaded nuts and bolts? I have some original sealtbelt bolts but the fine nuts will be quite a pain to source locally.

needs the fine threaded nuts and bolts
Reckon these are primarily there to get extra strength from the thread & because fine threads don't come undone as easily/can be done up tighter. In your position I'd go for a wider nut (or 2 welded in series??) welded on the reverse, spring washer & thread lock on bolt for complete overkill. As you say, those fine ones will be a real pain to source!

Other option is to get some metric fine ones as a replacement.... I use Modern Screws.

It's the 61 that will be getting the belts. The 61 was a complete rotbox which has had a full floor, sills, chassis legs etc.. redone.
Yes the 58 is black - you can just see the repainted engine bay if you ignore the yellow filler primer or the red oxide ;-)

I hadn't thought as far as the 58 yet!! It's very tidy with original floor, sills and hangars :-D

Dad's car has has long slot for trafficators and seat belt mounts below and above. The lower one is too low the higher one is too high - you either have the seatbelt around your ear or slipping off your shoulder. The later ones had it right in the middle. Dad plans on making a peice like the vinyl covered trim out of metal plate and bolting it in the existing holes with a mount in the middle - then cover it in vinyl to make it look the same as original.

Well having looked at 40" it seems awfully high so I'm going to go for Fweddy's option of sticking it right in the middle of the long slot at about 35" instead of 40"...

40" is awfully high... like I said, I didn't fit it there. One of the previous owners must've been really[/] tall... :lol: 35" would seem a lot more sensible. :D
