Due to the 4 year lay up of the blue Trav the clutch release bearing screeches / squeals when the pedal is released. It's not got any better with use and it is just about the last mechanical job I've got left to do. Is there a fix for this other than taking the engine out and changing the bearing?

Is it worn away to nothing ? Take out the rubber bungs - shine a bright light in one and look in the other - you should (with luck) be able to see how much graphite is left - if any!
I have had a spigot bearing (the one in the rear of the crank) make a screeming type sound, genarally it only did it as the clutch was starting to 'bite'
In this case (a Triumph) it turned out that the bush was loose enough to rotate in the end of the crank!
