Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all;

Additionally,
a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regard to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishes.

(Disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.)

Just be glad that I spotted that it had been written for 2000, not 2010! :lol:

I like Christmas, even though it reminds me that another year has raced by :o .

When I was but a lad, you always looked forward to Christmas. I think it peaked in 1973 - I remember someone in school saying "One week to go" (Me thinking "Yeah") and spending Christmas Eve at my grandparents house (Tommy Steele was on the tele - Happiest Millionaire), counting down the hours and then not being able to sleep too well when I got home and then wanting to get up at an absurd hour :roll: . The memory is that vivid!! Then on Boxing Day, you thought 364 days to go :lol: .

Nowadays, its about having a few days P&Q (Classic car books/magazine on hand) and thinking back on those earlier times. I don't "Do" buying crates and crates of lager and piles of food, most of which will end up in the bin. This year, I expect I'll get up, jump on the bike, cycle to my parents house and spend Christmas there. I'm going to watch the Great Escape this year. People used to moan because it was on every year (I have the video) but I'd much rather that than "Celebrity Christmas in the Jungle" :roll: .

When Meg, our dear old cat, was alive, she loved Christmas. She seemed to go into overdrive and if the chicken or turkey was a good one, her nose went into overdrive too. You knew how good it was going to be by how much Meg tried to get into the kitchen :D .

If you're still reading my witterings, have a good one :D !!

New Years Day may involve some sort of Classic Car gathering. It usually does but the local classic car club seems to be floundering so we'll have to wait and see.

On Sunday morning, I heard an item on the radio, that a "Think tank" has suggested renaming Christmas "Winterval". It didn't sound like a wind up and if we didn't live in an age, where bonkers things like this a common, I might have thought it was a joke. The reasons given weren't exactly clear (They mentioned something about pagans) and they didn't say whether Easter would become "Springerval" :roll: :lol: :evil: :o :-? . Sounds like someone has too little to do!!
