flowers....

yes i know....sorry!!

but now that her ladyship seems to have for now been relieved of her various ailments and idiosyncracies, i have to start about getting her ready for bridal car duties next year (it's a friends wedding!) and i'm still struggling to find flowers of the kind that go garland like round the bumpers and windscreens. Anyone have any ideas?

also what are people's opinions about the chrome things that go above the headlights? right or wrong?

Don't worry everyone in the technical section - i'll be back no doubt next week when this lot of repairs goes wrong in the cold!!

"things above the headlights" do you mean Headlight peaks (i.e. eyebrows)?

Very much personal preference. I Like em, many people dont

Yes, purely cosmetic. The sharp edges can be dangerous even to the point of cutting yourself when you wash the car, let alone if an unfortunate pedestrian was to slice their leg, skirt / trousers on them (in these days of litigation I wouldn't want to risk that one). I also think they make the car look feminine - which is fine if a lady is driving it but not so cool for the guys ;-)

I think the original idea when they first appeared in the '50s is that they reflect stray light back down onto the road surface, which may well be a load of nonsense. I tried a pair many years ago and the only difference I noticed was a 5mph reduction in top speed on the motorway, though not an issue I would have thought for wedding car duties!
Just down to personal taste really these days. Many folk do like them, though in theory if one caused injury in an accident it could be the 'non standard mod' that enables the insurance co. to duck out of paying, though proving that a headlamp peak caused more injury than the rest ofthe car would have done would be difficult to prove. Just a thought...

I run a small wedding car business, but not with a Morris (until I find a nice convertible), and I'd advise caution about decorating the car. People do expect ribbons (mascot to interior sun visor), and I offer a choice of artificial flower arrangements on the back parcel shelf. I never show prospective customers any other bows or rosettes, and I've never been asked for them.

Driving with ribbons flapping around in your field of view is one of the worst bits of doing a wedding, and I'm very glad I don't also have to worry about too much other clutter taking flight or getting wet and dirty.

I was very pleased with the flowers I bought from www.gtdecorations.com - I use "table centrepieces" for the back shelf, but make sure you choose ones that don't overhang and attack the bride's hair.

As a general point about doing weddings: you're taking on quite a responsibility, so it's actually quite a lot of work to do it properly. And you have to swap boiler suit for smart suit.

the thing is if you hit anyone with the car i think they the rest of the car would cause more damage than the peaks
and as for looks i like em gives em eye brows for that happy smiley face
