I read a thread here a while ago in which BMC commented on how a set of Champion Plugs cured lumpy running ona friend's MGB which had been running NKG's. I also found that the Series II should have had N8 Champion Plugs, which are no longer available and the modern equivalent is the Champion N5C (Copper Core). Hard to find here but I ordered them and waited till they arrived. I had been running NKG BP6ES.
Well, what a difference the Champion plugs made! The idle is much smoother and acceleration is more responsive. The car starts first pull of the starter and overall it is a much improved result.

ALL engines I have ever worked with.............
But - to be fair - it may just be that a new set of plugs of any make would help your idle. My mates MGB wouldn't START after a head off/valve regrind - and only after I spent two evenings on it, did he casually mention "it can't be the plugs - I just fitted new NGKs" - that's when the old set of Champs from my tool bag had it running just fine !

Nope, I reckon it was the Champions. I had fitted a new set of NKG's only a few months back, with gaps correctly set and it made no difference. The Champions made a noticeable difference straight away, just smoother overall. Perhaps more noticeable on an 803 than larger engines.......
