I'll see how much postage is and I'll let you know. Don't worry £50 should be sufficient

So for those of us that have the mechanical skills of a visually impaired Giant Sloth wearing boxing gloves is this then a 948cc ??
I'm asking because I'm in the same boat - according to DVLC I have a 1098 fitted

there should be a plate on the air filter side of the engine, near the breather,if its 110 then its a 1098 itf its got a 9 then its 948 i would presume i have a 1098 with the 949 air filter housing just to confuse things .

Definately a 1098 in M Coles car. Don't see anything wrong with the manifold - it's just the 'early' version. The car was never fitted with an 850 Mini engine - but it may at some point have had an 848 'in-line' engine - they are rare, were only fitted to late A35 vans. I'm looking for one !
For the extended thread (S&K) would need to see more of the engine ! Side views please!

Well the "new" 1098 manifold is on it's way now - is it worth bothering to fit it when it gets here?
BM do you know - is the engine number on the logbook a mini engine number?

It certainly denotes an 848 engine size - but can't be a Mini engine. Too many differences to be fitted to a Minor. It is possible to use a Minor engine block in a Mini - but not sensibly possible to do the reverse.
The age of your car - it should have a 1098 engine. Does it have a 'ribbed' (1098) gearbox casing ?

Just an error on the DVLA end no doubt. As said earlier in the thread might be a bit too much hassle to inform them. Doubt it'll hurt staying as is.
Silver seal 1098 engine and (ribbed) box

There will be no significant improvement changing the manifold. Later 'Mini' type manifolds have the carb mounted slightly higher - to clear the Mini bulkhead - and this is thought to give slightly better gas flow - but I doubt it could be measured.

As long as you can get the exhaust to seal again. Be sure to fit a new manifold gasket.
