Steering Wheel resto

The only thing letting down Snowdrop's interior is a somewhat tatty steering wheel - unfortunately some enquirires at the NEC show suggest that this would cost the thick end of £200 to have professionally restored!

Is anyone aware of a place that does this for significantly less than £200?

Also I note that £60 buys me a steering wheel resto kit from Frosts but one look at the instructions would suggest that a cack-handed novice like myself would muck this up good and proper - does anybody have any experience with such a kit that could allay my fears?

Why not just buy a good secondhand one or do you want to keep everything absolutely 'original'? £60 would get you a pretty decent late steering wheel and save a lot of fuss

Why not fit an earlier sprung-spoke wheel, fitted to the Minors until 63. They look so much nicer. They often turn up on ebay. Wolseley 1500 steering wheels are the same apart from the horn push.

Thanks for the advice, I think Louise M has the right idea, second hand ones seem to be available for £20 on Ebay - I wouldn't risk that as a low res photo would hide a multitude of sins, but one should turn up at an autojumble eventually at the right price (although didn't see any at the rally this year).

Keep looking, a decent one will turn up. What about posting an ad in the 'wanted' forum? You never know, Aupickup might have a spare NOS one knocking about in his garage
