Flooding is a dreadful thing (Wind can also do a lot of damage) and I wouldn't want to experience it. Perversely, there are, no doubt, people on earth, who would welcome some of that water, as they have none. I sincerely hope, for your sake, that the picture is not taken from your home or business.

Yesterday, I looked at Cockermouth on Google Earth and the way the Derwent meanders, it looks pretty much like a flood plain and I expect the confluence of two rivers makes matter worse.

I suppose there are degrees of sad news; what has taken place in Cumbria really is in the realms of tragic, just like the news of bereavement and the like.

As an update, I heard on the radio news that authorities elsewhere are looking at river bridges in case they too are suspect.

For utter trivia however, I think the fact that one of the celebrities in the jungle, has decided to leave, made the headlines is pretty "Sad".
