A few traders can supply a Minor flywheel (usually exchange) that has had six holes made in it (as opposed to the Minor's 4). That will bolt straight onto the 1275 A+ engine. Then fit a Sierra type clutch plate (the splines match the type 9 box) and either a Minor clutch cover plate or if you need it to cope with more power, a diaphragm type.
Surely rather more to it than that ? The Sierra gearbox input shaft has to be supported in a bushing - I think it doesn't reach the original Minor one - in the crankshaft tail ? I believe an insert has to be installed inside the modified flywheel ?
I already have the fitting kit for a 1098cc Minor, complete with the flywheel bush etc. My question was, if the engine isn't supplied with the required flywheel (which I'm not sure wether it is), hwat or where would I obtain the correct flywheel?
As above then! 1098 flywheel - drill it to suit the 1275 flywheel. Two of the holes line up perfectly - just need to mark off and drill the other 4. If the engine came from a Marina - and has that flywheel fitted - then it makes an excellent drill guide.
I put a 1275 marina engine in a van about 20 years ago and I'm sure that I used the marina flywheel/moggy clutch and it all fitted fine without mods. I also managed to get the same engine into a mini 1275GT once the van died and that was pretty straightforward too. Have I forgotten something?
The Marina flywheel will not fit into the Minor bellhousing at all - it is too big! Also, the mini is east/west not north/south so some mods would definately be required to get a Marina 1275 into a Mini....?

Compare the Minors - Simples !! http://mog.myfreeforum.org/index.php
Thread only asks about the flywheel! But indeed - modify a 1098 backplate, and Minor front plate will also need to be fitted to get engine mounting points.
