Marina Pedal box
Hi All I recall seeing on this forum (i think) step by step instructions on fitting the marina pedal box and servo etc to a mog 1000 .I have had a search but to no avail can anyone give me the link or pointers afresh..

Hmm just a thought before you start, Marina servos are not available new and master cylinders are also difficult to get hold of.

That said I'm currently looking at adapting a Mini servo and M/c to my Marina pedal box as the Marina items were damamged by my engine fire.

this site gives a good start on fitting one, i have got my pedal box today so im going to go the same route, it seems that esm sells a conversion box that has to be welded to the bulkhead. i dont no why he has bent the pedals, maybe they hit the inner of the car or are offcentre? im using a cable operated clutch so the clutch will have to have its master cylinder removed and some welding to the top to accept a cable, pretty straightforward i hope

I think in general you have a split braking circuit so a bit more safety (though only the later m/cs were split circuit)bmcecosse wrote:Looks like a load of work - to what advantage ?

That link was very useful I too searched far and wide for a replacement for the Marina servo but didn't find the Triumph equivalent unfortunatelty and settled on Mini for which I had to make an adaptor plate. If I was starting from scratch i'd use the Triumph on as it looks very similar the Marina

one of the big advantages and the reason why i like the solution is that it mounts the servo up high putting it down on the engine bay floor always looks cramped in my opinion. ok if you do not like servos (and i think we all know who i am talking about

Yes the bulkhead is not strong enough for it to be directly mounted but I found no problem with the esm conversion after 5 years the welds were holding string and I had done more than a few emergency stops!

To answer an earlier question re moving the pedals, I found that one of the pedals was in the same position as the steering column so need bending to another position. This meant moving the others to even out the spacing. Since I have mine in bits I'll put up some pictures of conversion to cable clutch and in general. Cheers DP

I've taken some pictures but as my servo Marina pedal box is not back in yet they aren't comprehensive so I'll try to be quite descriptive.
The Marina clutch pedal as originally designed pushes a plunger into the clutch master cylinder. We need a pulling action for the cable so have to weld something onto the top of the clutch pedal. Some years ago I welded the top of a Fiat pedal so that the standard Fiat cable could be used. You could fabricate something different to use a different type of clutch cable but the one I use seems to be still available today on Ebay.

The height of this extra metal is about 2 1/2 inches or as high into the welded on box as it will go without fouling. Since it's not clear, the top of the extension is very like this
The Fiat cable has an end like this:

and so attaches to the top of the clutch cable addition with a clevis pin. The cable is also adjustable at the pedal end which helps get everything adjusted in. That bit of aluminium angle was to strengthen the area where the clutch cable goes through the metal box. I'll redesign this to look a bit nicer when I rebuild.
The box needs to be cut to allow the cable to go through. You could get away with a hole but I cut a slit so I can remove pedal box to fit the cable.

This area needs reinforcing. I'll probably bolt/weld in a piece of angled steel right across the top of the steel box. The outer part of the cable will try to push into the box so something like a thick plate on the outsode will spread the load. I'll probably use some thick steel right across the top.
As for the holes and dips in the pedal box, I've cut some thin aluminium and epoxied it into place. It's not structural, only 0.5mm thick and cuttable with a scissors - just to tidy things up and seal against engine fumes.

Cleaned up. If I spent longer I could make the additional aluminium look like part of the original assembly and piolish the whole lot up mirror smooth but that would take ages and not be the look I'm going for

midget pedal box
hi, in my moggy im putting a mg miget pedal box, my reason for this was because i was putting 1300 marina engine and box i wanted to use the exciting hydralulic clutch. here are some pictures
