Hi welcome to the messageboard . Don't forget to take a look at the 'new member?' post at the top of the general discussion forum for some useful information. The NEC is the National Exhibition Cente in Birmingham. It hosts a classic car show every year. This year it's happening on 13th, 14th & 15th November. Details here:
The thin discs might be more expensive but are worth it in my opinion - they cut through a lot less metal than the thick ones - less metal removed equals less sparks to damage other stuff!
If you sign up to the 'mig welding forum' you can then get a discount with 'smith and arrow' who manufacture and sell thin discs - I bought a boxfull that will hopefully see me through many years of Mog rebuilding! (just don't try using them to grind with or it could all end in tears......) (I've got no connection with the firm, just thoght the offer was too good to miss!)
Bought a load of steel a few months ago from my local welding shop which they cut up to allow me to get it in the car. They used a plasma cutter - fantastic.
Dear Santa
Please can I have
if you're investing in things like welders and compressors, I would say a plasma cutter is not excessive - I got a great one off the interwebs for just over £350 (no compressor) & it works very well.
