More pictures pleeese, for us poor souls who couldn't get there because, all the hotels were full, and I would have liked to have done it over a couple of days.
I shall book early for next year train and hotel!!!

I went to the show on Friday, having won a pair of tickets in a competition. The autojumble was largely disappointing - at the price they charged stall holders it was no wonder that they all put their prices up - and there were a lot of stalls selling toys, keyrings, and tat jewellery.

I didn't bother with huge swathes of stands - eighties stuff doesn't do anything for me - but there were some nice "proper" classics on display. I wish more of the club stands would think carefully about why they were there. I'm afraid too many of them seemed like excuses for the club's inner circle to get together for a natter,and to hell with the paying punter. I'm afraid there was an element of that with the MMOC, even. I approached a group of people on the stand, hoping to perhaps put some faces to names, and with two honourable exceptions, Iainoftenbury and another gentleman whose name I didn't catch, the general reaction was to look at me is if they'd found me on their shoe. I certainly wasn't encouraged to join the club. Anyway, nice to meet you, Iain!

So, overall, a pleasant enough day, but I wouldn't pay £23 admission plus £8 parking plus fuel to get there - and I certainly wouldn't (and didn't) buy food there.

Just got back from the Classic Car Show at the NEC and thought this year was much better than some recent ones. Loads of punters all appeared to be having a good time. Great spread of cars on display throughout the halls from a Wartburg Knight to an Enzo Ferrari and everything in between. I did notice however that there appeared to be a lot of poor resprays on display from various marques, probably because there were many excellent quality paint jobs on others.

I thought the MMOC club stand was up to the usual standard and found everyone there most welcoming. I was offered cups of tea and a glass of Merlot before I left! Hats off to the club members who staff the stand for the three days. Not an easy task I should imagine.

I travelled by train from Chesterfield, changed at Birmingham New Street for the Virgin Pendolino to Birmingham International and walked straight into the halls from the station. Fantastic!

Well I had a splendid day on the LCV stand - met lots and lots of people with both LCVs and saloons and even sold some stuff (so hopefully justified my exhibitors pass).

I didn't get on to the MMOC stand but had a good chat with the Metropolitan's next door. The autojumble had an awful lot of models and lights and shiny bits, none of which I needed. Mostly I found people friendly and eager to talk about their cars. I prefer stands where you can get real close to (and even sit in) the cars - the landcrabs opposite us seemed to have people clambering all over them. Would love to get my pickup good enough to be included on the stand - felt really inspired by the pickups we had there.

Anyway - here are some pics.

also spotted a red van on the M40 northbound on the way there - looked like it might have been ex-GPO.. was this you? I did wave and then remembered I was in the Skoda

we went there on saturday(yesterday),I got some pics but they arn't the best quality.I shall try and upload them today.P.S We found that the car park was blocked with so many cars going in and heavy traffic on some of the motorways
PPS The car park charge is £8.00

I went with my dad and we both thought it was a great day, and for once I felt I wasn't ripped off - club discount on the tickets which I then printed off at home to avoid being stung a fiver for recorded delivery, brought sandwiches with us...and while the parking remains expensive at £8, I am so used to having my leg lifted to park at the NEC I was expecting it to be even more, so even that wasn't too bad (although parking cost equal to 62% of the event ticket cost...can anyone think of an event with a worse parking:ticket cost ratio than that...?)

I wasn't expecting there to be an LCV stand on top of the MMOC stand, so that was a bonus too, and I purchased my first ever copies of Minor Monthly which I had never seen physical copies of before...only to find to find articles on half of the web forum members, so now I feel like I've been missing out all this time

Only disappointment of the show for me was the MPH hall - not many cars of interested (blingmobiles only), too loud, too crowded, even felt strangely old fashioned with all of the scantily clad ladies flogging accessories...maybe I'm getting old...

I thought it made a really nice complement to the MMOC stand, it's nice to see the LCVs in different liveries.

Any views on least deserving car to be present at the show? I only ask because the old man was disappointed that there were no Triumph Acclaims when there were Marinas, Maestros, Rover 200s, Maxis, mid eighties Astras...personally I have no objection to any of them being there, although I do remember attending a show going back some 8 or 9 years where someone had brought along an MG Montego that they hadn't even bothered washing!

And what was the best non-Minor at the show? I think something 60's from the Maserati stand might get my vote, although there were some lovely Jags and and a nice Rolls Silver Cloud as well.

I know it's a bit of an obvious choice, but there was a chocolate brown Ferrari there that I'd happily sell my house for (not that that would be enough). Can't think why everyone was crowding around the Enzo.

Although I enjoyed the MMOC stand I prefered the LCV stand.

The vehicles weren't chained off and you could freely roam and talk with the people/owners of the vehicles. Seemed a lot more relaxed.
