Nice Coat ~ be careful
I often look at ebay for any interesting Minors which as I was looking for a good dog walking coat for the coming winter ebay looked like a good option to buy one, about to buy one for £65 when I came across an article about a chap who had bought a top of the range North Face Jacket for under £100, worth RRP in the shops double that price. To cut a long story short it was a fake as he matched the ebay one to his recently purchased one which he had damaged and wanted a replacement, when it rained that then gave the game away along with the poor stitching. He contacted the seller who agreed to a full refund but on sending the Jacket back he eventually after many weeks had to threaten legal action to get the money back, the seller is apprantley now reregistered and selling again along with other so called bargains. Since he highlighted this on a blog he has been inundated with simular people with the same problem. As ever his advice IF IT LOOKS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT PROBABLY IS. Think I'll be going to Blacks or Millits tomorrow.

Good advice.
Personally I buy as little as possible from ebay. Purely because, like you say, they are quite happy to let users flog fakes. Such as clothes, perfume, jewelry, shoes and DVD's/CD's etc.
The only time I ever buy from ebay is when I'm categorically sure there is no way the item is fake.

Best to buy Hi-Viz worksuits - if walking a dog in dark/wet weather! Give folks a chance to see you - and they are made to a very high standard and very good at keeping the wet out and warmth in! I have bought several (in Railway Orange of course) on ebay at bargain prices over the last year - all have been excellent! Just search for Hi-Viz - most are the yellow Highway colour.

You are just as likely to find a fake on the local market, at least on ebay you can get your money returned if you used paypal to pay. I have only ever had one problem and I obtained a refund within the week. Ebay like any other trading transaction just requires a sensible attitude, if a 300 quid item is offered new at 30 quid buy it now by a trader with next to no feedback it is most likely a bum deal. Simples
I intend to live forever.....so far so good

I haven't done much walking in a while. I've done a bit locally, plus in Scotland and Austria (Up to about 10000 feet). I got most of my kit from the local outdoor shop, though I've had some good kit from Blacks in Cardiff (That was before the local place was going). Years ago I had a good pair of boots from the Army & Navy stores.
I've never used ebay. I suppose its the crooks who spoil the reputation of ebay but the fact remains, they exist. One such crook was jailed a few years ago, for selling stuff that he didn't have or have any intention of supplying. I remember it only because he was from Pontypool, so not far away from me.
I have a nice little picnic set from Millets (Some might think that's sad; I call it convenient). It's handy for keeping food and drink cool and the knives and forks, crockery etc are all contained in it. It fits into the Midget, so it'll fit into the others easily.

You are dead right Nigel. Except you can get £300 fakes for the same price as the original. The last straw was my wife bought a pair of expensive Nike trainers from ebay (priced similar to JD Sports). When they arrived they smelt of petrol, we got a full refund... I think I'll stick to the reputable stores from now on. But that's just a personal opinion of course, there are decent sellers on there.

Plenty of new 'outdoors' shops opening up - and thriving! Blacks and Millets (part of Blacks anyway) just got it wrong. Try this place - they have 'bargains' from time to time.

Blacks should have stuck to their roots - making sails in Greenock!

What do you make of this link, found it attacted to Amazon and the prices seem really good 65% off but a bit sceptical as they appear to ship from China and at the top of the page they say "200pounds", but I would of thought being a link to Amazon should be OK. Where do North Face come from?

Hi,
Just read the "FAQs"
Just because a link appears in Amazon, it doesn't mean that Amazon approve or support the reseller...

Just read the "FAQs"
I note that the website doesn't give the trading name of the company - nor its address. It slao suggests thet it's tax free - which is correct until it comes into the UK.Q1: Why your prices are so cheap?
Q2:Are the northface fashion anthentics,100% originals packaged?
A: Yes,our northface fashion here are anthentic quality and 100% originals package. All the fashion are just directly stocked from container abroad like orders cooperated for wal-mart and so on.So there are various styles and enough sizes that you may have interest. And due to certain stocks from our own factory and non tax fees home and abroad,we develop our business enlarging cooperation broadly via sample offering and free shipping here, that is why the prices shown are so cheap. Just come on and catch a chance to enforce our development here.
