Apologies in advance for all the questions. I am posting this here not because I have any intention of entering our car in concours but because the questions I want to ask will be pertinent to anyone who does. My winter/spring project is to tidy up the engine bay which is in a sorry state. The previous owner was happy to keep up the servicing but didn’t really care about appearances. I have decided if I am going to spruce things up I might as well try to keep to original spec where possible and practical. So I have a few questions. I have already invested in the Original Morris Minor book.
Questions refer to a 1966 Traveller Smoke Grey 1098 originally dynamo but converted to alternator
I’m going to repaint the inside of the engine bay, the engine and ancilliaries, and anything else I can get at. From what I can gather the paint scheme should be as below, please correct any errors:
Inner wings, bulkhead and just about everything else bodywise– smoke grey
Engine support brackets – black, engine green or body colour?
Radiator – black
Bonnet folding support – satin black
Engine including thermostat housing, sump, waterpump, oilfilter head, rocker cover – engine green
Rocker cover bolts – painted green or left unpainted?
Front pulley – engine green
Fan blades - yellow
Inlet manifold – engine green
Exhaust manifold – as cast, grey
Alternator – left unpainted
Airfilter – gloss black
Front shocks – body aluminium, arms black
Fuel pump body – black
Windscreen wiper motor – black body, aluminium legs and end facing.
Copper pipe between heater and radiator – black
Coil – as it comes?
Battery retaining bar – black
Engine steady bar brackets – black
Engine steady bar – aluminium
Heater valve on rear of cylinder head – unpainted?
Vacuum pipe to distributor – engine green??
Labels:
Lucas label on main harness as it exists bulkhead
Cooper label on airfilter
SU label on fuel pump
Caution label on plate attached to copper pipe running from heater to radiator
Rocker cover plates were riveted but on late models were glued on I believe. What glue is best? I can get a plate for the Morris motif but only a sticker for the Weslake patents bit. Should I use stickers or aluminium plates?
Stencilled warning on radiator in white
Water bottle – Tudor sticker?
Phew, that’s the first lot of questions. Details, it’s all in the details!
Lots of questions - engine bay

That's great thanks. I went to the NEC on Saturday and there was a Traveller on display with the bonnet up. I took loads of pics and had a chat with the owner - didn't get his name but if he reads this - thanks for the chat. I was the one with my daughter in tow and asking about the radiator. I should be able to have a good go at my own now. Thanks again.
