1500 minor
Does anyone know if it is an easy task to fit a 1500 MG Midget engine ito an MM? They seem to be fairly plentifull and cheap, It's just a thought, or would a 1275 be an easier option/ better bet?

Biffa,
I have had a 1500 Midget, and the engines are not a patch on the 1275.
The 1500 is sluggish and does not like revving very much. The 1500 engine can be installed but it is easier and better to go with the 1275 engine.
I believe that there is only a couple of BHP between the two engines anyway, and the tuning parts are much more plentiful for the 1275 than the 1500, and you are staying with the A-Series!!!

Yes the 1500 Triumph engine is pretty weak. On which note, a mate of mine has one in a Spitfire and he is struggling with setting up the twin Waxstat SUs (yes I know this is a Morris Minor website but forgive me, there are a lot of knowledgeable folk out there in minorland).
The waxstats seem to open up a different rates leading to a mixture imbalance. Presumably one of them is failing. Is there any easy way of disabling the waxstat and resetting the jet accordingly or do you have to buy an expensive conversion kit?

1500 Engine
Do not even consider it. The engine is too long for the engine bay, its very heavy and will ruin the handling, its relativly low powered.
Better choices would be a 1380cc A series, Fiat, K series, Zetec or crossflow.
