I've seen in some pics of moggy's over the net that some seem to sport a chrome door strip and bonnet strip does anyone know if someone makes these as over covers or direct replacements etc. Also the same goes for the grille, does anyone do the chrome ones or is it a trip to the platers.
Chrome grill -> trip to platers and many years trying to keep the rust off.
The U section that goes beneath the door is available in stainless steel.
Maybe the sill cover too?
Hi cheers for that but I was thinking about the raised strip that goes from the door handle across to the bonnet and continues on the bonnet, can that be chromed, ie a bolt on goody.
The only removeable bit is the bonnet part which I guess could be chromed. The door and back panel parts is pressed into the steel panel and cannot come off (by normal means).

On some bonnets, maybe later ones? these are removable.
They are made from some sort of aluminium or Mazak type material.
No idea if the can be chromed or not.
Mazak can be chromed - after all it is what your door handles, boot handles, badges etc are made of
I went to a supplier of mine last week and found out the still do Mazak casting now.... after all these years !!!!

Years ago I met an Irishman who lived in New York City. He had those strips polished on his 2 door saloon. He liked the extra flair. I find the 2 doors have too much front end bias, especially with the headlights in the wings. Add the stainless window frames and there is nothing after the B post. But like I said he like it.
I didn't say they cannot be chromed, what I said is that they do not re-chrome very well. You would have to buy new side stips for any chance of a decent chrome finish. New chrome seems to "pit" faster these days. I always go for NOS chrome wherever possible.
Yeah I can see where you are coming from with that, but my other half has a pickup so don't think it'll look out of place.
Not sure I want to go down the "fake" stick on root. She originally wanted it to be cream or mother of pearl paint but she saw a pic of a chrome one and likes that better. It's such joy restoring a car for your wife, cough cough....

they doo??? ever tried asking if they do the mounting plates for the 4 door handles????
I tried to steer the conversation round to classic car parts in general but they didn't seem too interested. It is difficult to get any suppliers excited about such potentially small batches of production
