I've lost the keys for Albert. Been gone 3 weeks now and looked everywhere several times over. I know they are at my property somewhere not lost in town or whatever. Darn frustrating it is.

At least its not a modern, those new fangled keys cost a mint!! I used to mislay car keys but when I refurbished my kitchen, I fitted a wall safe. All keys, cards, wallet etc go in there........ now where the hell is the key to the safe?
My three year old puts things away, safely. She put my house keys somewhere once, six months they were missing! She'd put them safely under the dishwasher. Pesky kids!
They'll turn up Pete... just when you aren't looking for them!

Despite urban myths suggesting any key will fit, I have a selection of other keys of similar size and none of them are a sustitute. It's no too hard a job to replace the ignition barrel but that would give me less incentive to find the original bunch which holds a house key and the spare for my Passat too.

Is the ignition key no. on the switch?
The Heritage Certificate, if you have one, will have the original key nos. on it.
A proper locksmith may be able to sort out a key.
S'ok folks. I know about the number on the ignition barrel. Knowing my luck though that will be at the focal range I'm struggling to see at (It was a challenge wiring the radio in I can tell you ) I will probably have to do something embarrassing like ask the kids to read it for me.

Try somewhere so obvious you wouldn't think of., like your own coat/trouser pockets! Dining Room table, kitchen worktop. Failing that try kids coat pockets, the dollshouse, the dogbed, |I've found things in these places. Did you go in the shed?
Fortunately I don't need to break in. The roof is down so even if the door was locked I could swing from the roof timbers and mon - key my way in [groan ]. As I say, from a security aspect finding the bunch of keys is more important than being able to drive Albert again.
