Insurance valuation - does the club do this?
Does MMOC offer valuations to members for insurance purposes? If not can anyone recommend where I can go in the Warwickshire area to get one? JLH?

Stuart, are you sure you need an independent valuation? I'm in the process of changing to Footman James, who have a 'Vehicle Condition Form' which you fill in. For 'vehicles over 20 years old and less than £15,000 in value', you complete the details yourself and send them two recent photos of the car.
With respect, i fail to see how a form you fill in yourself and 2 photos can give an accurate description of a vehicle. "Some" people have an over inflated idea of their cars value and we have all seen how shiney cars look on photos. I wonder if the insurance company would really pay out £15k if your car was stolen and therefore condition could not be verified by their loss adjuster if it was purely based on your own interpretaion.....
I can see the simplicity in doing it that way for cars of lower value but i think I would want some sort of professional valuation for cars of a much higher value.....
What does everyone else think - I'm particularly interested in professional opinion or anyone with unfortunate insurance claims experience.....???

I have a similar form to complete and have been asked to send 6 photos - front, back, both sides, interior and engine bay. Most insurance companies I have dealt with allow this and give a covered value based on it. BUT I have heard that if you ever make a claim they often dispute it despite apparently agreeing to it when the insurance is taken out. I figured if I get an independent valuation I would be in a much better position to argue if I am unfortunate enough to ever have to claim.
