Van Engine?
Been offered (free) 1098 engine from supposedly late model van/pick up 10V/451E/45521. If it is suitable for my 1098 '66 Traveller I would consider rebuilding it. Is it the same spec as the car engine? (comperression ratio etc) it has a breather fitted from the crankcase to the carb via a cylindrical gizmo
Appreciate any info

yes - and if so the Minor engine number would have a H or L to indicate high or low compression (Somethng like 10M#L#####). No idea about non minor engine numbers though!Were LCVs normally fitted with low comp. engines?

Re: Van Engine?
Re; the engine;
10V/451E/L's are LC PO Minor van engines.
cannot be 45561 as the highest recorded is 10200
if it's 4556 it will have a green rocker box, 5561 will be black
(both date to 1971)
hope this is of help

Re: Van Engine?
Thanks POMMReg the engine is now slightly different. Chucked the old low compression pistons away. MG Metro cam, 12G295 head, HIF38 carb. Goes quite well
According to the id tag removed when the block was 'decked' the engine ni is 10V/451E/L 5621
