can the standard Lucas dynamo be used on any car that it will fit?
i have in the past, liberated the dynamo from my brothers morris (whilst it was off the road for 3 years being restored) and used it on my wolseley 1500.
just wondered if its possible to do it with any bmc car

There are a number of slightly different 'inertia' starters - some will fit the Minor - others are larger/have larger mounting flange. And yes - there are slight variations in the drive teeth numbers - I think 10 and 11 are available - but both seem to mesh in ok with the Minor flywheel. Note that solenoid type pre-engaged starters enter the flywheel from the front - and so won't work with a normal ring gear - although they may work if the ring gear is reversed - Mini lads do this - but it's not something I have ever tried!
